First General Assembly Trendline Plus

Representatives from 22 European Member States met online on 25 June for the first General Assembly of the Trendline Plus project, marking the official start of the collaboration. Building on the achievements of the Baseline and Trendline projects, Trendline Plus will further strengthen the evidence base for road safety policy across Europe.

During the meeting, participants discussed the project’s objectives, work plan and next steps for harmonised data collection. Over the coming years, participating countries will collect Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs) on key road safety risk factors, including speed, restraint systems, helmet use, distraction, driving under the influence, enforcement, and vehicle safety. By applying common methodologies and data collection templates, the project will improve the comparability of road safety data across Europe and support evidence-based policymaking.

The General Assembly also marked the start of the collaboration between CDV - the project coordinator - and experts from the participating Member States. The meeting represented an important milestone in establishing a harmonised approach to road safety data collection across Europe. In the coming months, the project team will finalise the methodological guidelines and data collection templates, laying the foundation for the next European road safety dataset.
